World Homeless Day 2016

Each year, UGM tries to do something to mark this day – 10/10 – something to say, We see you. We’re paying attention. For the last two years, we’ve been down at Riverpark Square with a big white board, asking people to put a “hand up” for the homeless. Children loved the exercise, and hopefully, it helped to raise awareness of homelessness in Spokane. But this year, we decided to do something a little different.

Hopefully, you're seeing new billboards going up around Spokane and Kootenai County similar to the ones we put up last fall.

Our “Lose the Label” campaign is an effort to transfer our attention from outward appearances to the individuals behind those labels.

What a privilege it is to be ministering here at the Union Gospel Mission of the Inland Northwest-- a place that acknowledges the deep significance of every human being.  Years ago, Dr. Francis Schaeffer wrote a book entitled, No Little People.   As the title suggests, the thesis of the book is that there are no insignificant people.  This is true because every person was created by the one true and living God.  This is what the Bible teaches us.
