The Reid and Hefling families stopped by 1224 E Trent yesterday to drop off the $370 they raised at the Garland Street Fair through their Colors of Hope project. Moms Melissa and Maliaka said they were amazed at how bold the children were at the fair. Cameron demonstrated his technique: "Hi, I'm Cameron. Would you like to donate to the Union Gospel Mission and get some free crayons?" Now look at those faces. Who could refuse? Plus, the free crayons are super cool: they come in the shape of cars, suns and gingerbread people!
The two families set out to feed the hungry and make a difference by collecting used crayons. Read more about the whole process on their Facebook page or this previous blog post.
