Wil and Jean Gassman have been praying with people at UGM’s Monday night Celebrate Recovery service since the summer of 2006. They listen. They pray. They share Scripture and words of encouragement, and they see the God of comfort at work on a weekly basis.
“We tell them that God can bring goodness out of terrible things. Satan has stolen so much. They have suffered so much, but God can restore,” Jean said. “We’ve seen the power of God at work.”
Wil said he and Jean can step into a parental role. “Some people have never had a mom or dad to love them unconditionally. They need somebody to love them. We are able to do that, even if it’s just for a brief period of time.”
“A lot of them are bearing so many burdens,” Jean said. “By sharing the good news, we can encourage them, and the Holy Spirit lifts their spirits.”
