Sharing basic comfort

Connie“God ignited a fire in me.” That’s how Connie Bagley describes what happened to her the first time she helped serve at UGM’s Friday Night Outreach. She committed to serving on a weekly basis and, before long, took over the food preparation, as well. She heats the soup (often a donation from Olive Garden restaurant), makes the sandwiches and ensures that the necessary equipment and serving items are ready to load on the truck. Then she meets the team at First Covenant Church to help serve.

“If your stomach is growling,” Connie said, “it’s really hard to hear, but when you have someone who is loving enough to feed you and tell you, this is not from me, this is from our Lord, and we just love you and want you to have a full belly before you go to sleep tonight…I think they can hear that so much clearer.”

Connie’s 7-year-old granddaughter, Jaden, caught Connie’s enthusiasm and has become a regular on Friday nights, as well.
