Cream of the Crop Volunteer

When Autymn Wilde, a sixth-grade student at Summit School in Spokane Valley, set her sights on her school’s top honor – the Zenith Award – she chose to do her community service hours at the Union Gospel Mission. Last year, Autymn did crafts with the children at the UGM Crisis Shelter over the Christmas holidays. One particular little girl, mesmerized by Autymn’s snowflake-making abilities, captured Autymn’s heart and ensured her love of helping the homeless for life. As a result, this year Autymn decided to raise money to help fund the Crisis Shelter. So far, she has raised $404.30 and wants to keep going. She and her grandma have also helped at the UGM Thrift Store in the Valley, sorting donations.

Tim Hepper began volunteering at the UGM Crisis Shelter four years ago shortly after his wife died. “There was a hole in my life that I knew only God could fill, and I began to ask Him where I could serve. I believe He led me to the Crisis Shelter.”
