Volunteers Providing Welcome
UGM’s volunteer case managers stand on the frontlines of ministry, offering listening ears and wise counsel to men and women in crisis.
On the first Wednesday of every month, you’ll find Rob Lento singing at the Union Gospel Mission chapel service as part of His Song. The men’s singing ensemble has been singing at the Mission
since 1999.
“It’s our favorite place to sing,” Rob said.
The group performs a combination of praise and worship songs. “We find that the music we sing has a calming, soothing, healing effect.” The group stops singing part way through to take prayer requests. “The men get very vulnerable with us,” Rob said. After the service, Rob and other members often linger to pray with men individually, and since the group comes to the Mission monthly, they get to hear answers to their prayers, as well. “The presence of the Lord is very evident.”
