UGM Gathering 2025
At this year’s Gathering, we heard real stories from real people about how they—empowered by the tools, resources, and support UGM offers—have...
Every year, the South Hill Bible Church youth group puts a creative twist on UGM’s food drive – to great effect! On October 31st, rather than donning costumes and collecting their weight in candy, they head out into South Hill neighborhoods in search of canned food and other non-perishable items to help feed the hungry. This year, they collected over 3,750 cans and handed out 700 “More Than a Meal” cards, describing UGM’s services to the homeless.
“Our students just love going out and collecting cans for the Mission, and after two hours of collecting, it’s great to count up the bounty,” said Youth Pastor Andrew Stachofsky. “We have a lot of fun.” His group also partners with UGM to bring students from Grant Elementary to Tshimakain Creek Camp each summer. The two experiences together are helping to raise up young people who share God’s heart for the poor.
Note: UGM’s food drive is lagging behind previous years. Do you have a creative idea you could put into action to help feed the hungry?
