Painting with a Purpose

This summer Artworks Coeur d’Alene teamed up with the UGM Center for Women & Children in a unique partnership with multiple positive benefits. First, Artworks donated tent space at the Riverstone Street Fair each Thursday night throughout the summer for UGM’s use. Inside the tent, women and volunteers from the Center were restoring pieces of donated furniture with paint, supplies and instruction also donated by Artworks.

Pastor to the Homeless

Shortly after moving to the Spokane Valley a year ago, Ken Carpenter, a retired pastor, visited the Union Gospel Mission Thrift Store. Noting the store’s name, he said to the cashier, “What’s the ‘gospel’ got to do with this store?” The cashier explained UGM’s purpose statement, and Ken’s interest was piqued.
