A Working Relationship

As Paul’s strength returned, he was paired with volunteer Mike Updike to work in the Mission’s flower beds a few hours each week. Mike calls it “horticulture therapy” and appreciates the opportunity to do two things he loves at the same time. “The results,” he said, “are awesome.”

Tshimakain Creek Camp Update

Roy and Sharyle Croswhite served as work crew leaders when their church, Valley Assembly, hosted a week at Tshimakain Creek Camp. Roy and Sharyle have done a lot to help with the construction and maintenance of the cabins, but this was their first time to spend a week with the campers from Progress Elementary. Both said it was great to see the camp filled with kids having fun and learning about Jesus – many for the first time.

Movie Night

What could be more fun on a warm summer night than an outdoor movie? Jeremiah Johnson, one of the owners of The Shop in the Perry District of Spokane, not only shows a free outdoor movie on Saturday nights, he also features a local charity for a mini-fundraiser. One Saturday in July, he highlighted UGM Women’s Recovery at Anna Ogden Hall, sharing his own story of staying at the shelter off and on as a child. Jeremiah said he was thrilled to have the opportunity to support the place that once helped him.
