Volunteers Providing Welcome
UGM’s volunteer case managers stand on the frontlines of ministry, offering listening ears and wise counsel to men and women in crisis.
The ladies of Women’s Auxiliary have been huge supporters of Tshimakain Creek Camp. Over the years, they’ve provided a ski boat, awnings, paddle boats, barbecue grills, walkie-talkies, trailers, life jackets, sleeping bags, high-quality tubes for floating the river and much more. In July, they took a day trip to see the impact of their generosity. The women received an insider’s tour of the facilities – “It’s a beautiful, beautiful camp,” said Sandy Bridges of Berean Bible Church – but they also experienced something much deeper. “My heart was a little bit broken, and yet I was so blessed,” Sandy said.
Sandy’s favorite part was spending a little one-on-one time with the campers. While it was difficult to hear all that the 13-year-old girl with whom she was paired had been through, “I was blessed because she was there and getting all this heart knowledge. She said to me, ‘I’m just so happy I’m here.’”
