Volunteers Providing Welcome
UGM’s volunteer case managers stand on the frontlines of ministry, offering listening ears and wise counsel to men and women in crisis.
When the weather turned cold, Raymond and Michael Rodriguez started worrying about the men they saw on the street corners downtown. How were they going to stay warm? The boys knew they had a lot of stuff they didn’t need, and they thought their parents did, too, so they came up with an idea: They could have a clothing drive without ever leaving their house.
Eventually (OK, the boys’ parents admit they had to be nagged a little), they cleaned out all the closets in their house and brought the excess to the Union Gospel Mission – clothing, blankets, coats and more.
Jesus said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 18:3-4
