Lorie Alstrom, single mother of five, loves coming to the Union Gospel Mission on Monday nights for Celebrate Recovery. Her 3 main reasons for never wanting to miss:
1) “My kids love coming here.” The Mission’s Celebrate Recovery service provides child care for infants through school-age so that parents can focus on praise and worship.
2) The preaching. Lorie said Randy Altmeyer makes the Bible come alive. “He’s speaking to my heart.” She can immediately apply what’s being taught, and it “reinforces my ongoing recovery.”
3) “It’s family.” Lorie has been coming to Celebrate Recovery for years. “It makes me feel really good that I know I have people out there looking out for me, people that can speak into my life.” Recently, Randy and a few of the other leaders spoke with Lorie regarding some concerns they had about something she was doing. Lorie said she didn’t resent it. Quite the opposite. “It makes me feel good – safe – that my brothers in Christ are looking out for me and my kids.”
