Volunteers Providing Welcome
UGM’s volunteer case managers stand on the frontlines of ministry, offering listening ears and wise counsel to men and women in crisis.
A supportive community is important to ongoing healing and recovery. UGM is so grateful for the way Summit church serves and welcomes those in recovery. We recently asked Summit staff member Audrey Feetham some questions about the church’s partnership with us.
Why has Summit chosen to partner with UGM?
Summit believes that we are called to serve. We partner with UGM to support and come alongside them in the causes of justice and mercy in the city.
In what ways is the church working with UGM?
Summit supports UGM financially through monthly donations, event sponsoring, and holiday gift giving opportunities. We also highlight UGM throughout the year at our Sunday services, making our church aware of needs and volunteer opportunities. There are Summit Community Groups and individuals that serve meals and spend time with those at UGM, creating an environment of love and care for those in their shelters.
How is Summit helping individuals in ongoing recovery?
Summit’s counseling team is a great resource for ongoing recovery. Aside from one-on-one counseling, we offer classes and Bible studies throughout the year that support recovery. There are even specific individuals at Summit that volunteer time with UGM counseling and mentoring.
Why does the church believe it is important to come alongside those in recovery?
We are called to build one another up, encourage each other, and come alongside others as they stumble, fall, and grow. As we share the love of Christ, we live the Gospel out in a way that allows people to experience the strength of Jesus.●
